GOOD LISTENING, CHRISTIAN!

NEWSFLASH!

We've got the sign BABY! I have to get it on video. It is by far the sweetest most precious thing I have ever seen. He has said "BEEEEEEEEEEEE" while signing, so I'm thinking that is his "Baby" at the moment. It's also pretty neat when I say and sign "Where's Baby?" and he will either point at the pictures of him on the wall, or go get his board book full of cutie-patootie babies. I LOVE IT!

I feel like we have had an avalanche of language development over the past two weeks. HOORAY!

Go, Christian! Wow- he's really picking up a lot of words AND signs! I think he almost has as many as my 2 year old!

Your son is really cute! Don't worry so much about what you are going to do now. The single most important thing you and your husband must do is learn sign language. Glad to know you've sign up for ASL classes. Sign away with your son and he'll be learning more words than hearing babies!! That's the truth. Then you can go and visit (you don't say where you live...) schools for the deaf as many have early infant programs and you can enroll your son. If you are in Maryland...visit the Maryland School for the Deaf. They have a wonderful early childhood program and a great deaf community (hearing parents with deaf kids too). Me, I am deaf (although I can hear and speak pretty good and people say I am hearing but I am not... ASL was my first language..parents and family are all deaf) went to deaf school then hearing school then Gallaudet.
Good luck...keep learning and using ASL. Get the rest of your family to learn too so they can communicate with Christian NOW.
Good luck!

Thanks to amazing timing of me reading Jodi's blog showcasing you and you leaving a comment on mine, I was really impressed. My mom and dad are both hearing. I'm the only deaf one in the family. Reading blogs such as yours really allows me to see how they felt when they found out I was deaf. I was a little older then your little guy when they discovered that I was deaf and this provides me with such amazing insight. I hope I can help provide you with the insight of your son. I got you bookmarked :)

THANKS SO MUCH KAREN AND LEAH! I am just so excited. I actually am making a page in his baby book for his first signs (since all it has is FIRST WORDS!)
