Well, it's sounds more like "Wha Daaat?", but I'll take it anyway.
Christian has picked up on Mommy constantly pointing and asking him what things were, and for the past few days has been curiously pointing to EVERYTHING and then asking 'What's That?". What makes me even more proud of him, is that it's not just for things that he's asking. IT'S ALSO FOR SOUNDS.
We were in our backyard today, and the house directly behind us has some construction going on. We have a nice, big, and tree-filled backyard and were sitting on our patio. What sounded like saws through wood came from the house behind us. Christian stopped in his tracks, put his index finger on his ear, turned to me and said 'Wha Daat?"
And of course, I started crying big crocodile tears of joy. And then they turned into big sobs. I haven't prayed out loud much these days, but I actually stopped mid-sob and thanked St. Theresa for prayers answered. I scooped Christian up, and Googled an image of a saw, all the while telling him all about it.
10 seconds later, we were running around the block (on a hot and sticky DC day) so I could show Christian what made that noise that he liked so much. And HE LOVED IT!
I'm so proud of my sweet boy. He's working SO hard to listen and talk.
On a side note, especially to my neighbors....no, I did not call the Fire Department today just so Christian could see the firetruck (although ya'll know I've done stranger things for a language opportunity for this kid). A truck hit the top of an electrical wire that was hanging really low in front of my house, and it fell onto my neighbor's fence and in the road. Since my kitchen bay window is my command station (I mean, I am the eyes and ears of our street), I witnessed the whole thing. The nice boys from the station were here in minutes.
And Christian got to touch the truck AND the wheel.
It was a good afternoon.

Awesome! Show your son the world, Christina! I wouldn't worry about what other people think. . . he'll think you're the coolest mom in the world and will thank you someday!
How are you feeling these days with your pregnancy? Hope you are doing well. . .
Just found your blog. Your little Christian is a doll. I have a 3 1/2 year old who is about 8 months hearing. Good Luck with your new journey!
haha, you are now an AVT mom, I can tell! those tears won't stop either, even as they age you'll find something to be so thankful for. Love these stories.
How wonderful! Tools and firetrucks in the same day- little boy heaven. And hearing and learning new things- mommy heaven!

Tears and smiles! This journey is full of them isn't it! This post gave me chills! I point to my ear all the time when I hear something as I tell Aiden "I hear ..." and I just wait for the day that he points to his ear! Amazing Christina ... absolutely amazing with chills on top!
