My parents, brother, and sister-in-law made the trip from Michigan. My other sister-in-law and her fiance came in from North Carolina. My best friend and her husband drove down from Delaware, and not to mention my best girlfriends from college, beach days, and even my amazing neighborhood girls took time away from their families to support us! Christian's classmates and school community also participated, with our team having over 70 walkers. Faculty, families and friends of the school all participated. It was just amazing.
The highlight of the day was when Christian met Reed Doughty, #37 of The Washington Redskins, who was our Honorary Chair. Reed has a hearing loss and is a passionate advocate, and not to mention role model for my little guy. He was so excited that he met a REAL REDSKIN! It was a busy day for me, shuffling between our over 70 person member team and ensuring that the details all fell into place. I made my TV debut, being interviewed by a local station. While I'm always happy to advocate for our kids, I wish I would've been a bit more camera ready with some bronzer and lip-gloss!
