A Big Sigh of Relief...

Well, we can officially cross one thing off of our list of worries.

Lily is a "typically" hearing child.

We headed to Hopkins yesterday for her ABR and OAEs, and she passed both with flying colors. After I nursed her to sleep, the test was performed in about 45 minutes, starting with her left ear, and then with her right. I had my first beer in 10 months (Stella Artois!) afterwards to celebrate.

Chuck and I are beyond relieved that we finally have a clear picture on Lily's status. We'll take her back in 6 months for some booth testing, since our family is considered "high risk".

yes, take her back at 6 mos. I was supposed to take Brook back (we have no genetic loss either) but didn't. I thought she was hearing fine but discovered at 9 mos she wasn't.

That is great news. I am pregnant and this is a concern for our family as well. One of my triplets is deaf from connexin 26. We will wait and see when she is born and hope for the best. it's 25% chance of hearing loss.

What a great day for your family!

That is good news! And good for you to follow up at six months for a booth test. Hearing tests (especially booth tests) are so simple and they are so worth it, both for reassurance and for finding a possible problem.
