The Heart of a Home is the Kitchen

Growing up, everything happened in my Mom's kitchen. We ate, we celebrated, did homework, crafts...you name it, it happened there. My family has always been about food, and it's always brought us together. Now that I have my own family, it's no surprise that our life seems to always happen in the kitchen as well.

Over the past few months, Christian has really taken a liking to helping me cook and clean-up. He loves to help me mix, stir, and even crack eggs. He likes having his own little jobs, and he even likes to help me sweep up our floor when we're all done cooking. All of this activity has been an amazing language opportunity, especially with working on action words. There is just SO much to talk about when your cooking in the kitchen!

Yesterday, DC was hit with what they call a snow storm, and as native Michigander, I call a dusting. Schools were closed, and the roads were a mess. So, we stayed inside and made snowflake and shamrock cookies!

Christian proves that sprinkles = FUN! Too sweet! I love cooking with my boys, too, though they spill sprinkles on purpose to try and eat them!
