You Have Got To Be KIDDING ME.

What's the worst kid illness that we could get? We've had RSV, the flu, Hand/Foot/Mouth, H1N1, various respiratory issues, strep, bronchitis, ear infections, and a whole bunch of tummy issues. We got through them, and with each one I always thought it couldn't get worse. But it did.

We got lice.

I was absolutely mortified that I could possibly miss this. I wash his hair every night, comb it in the morning, tousle it when he's home from school, and pat his little head at least 15 times a day. It was nasty. It was horrible. We're not dirty people! How could this happen?! We went to a professional nit picker (yes, there is such a thing) and she looked through for 3 hours. He got a buzz cut, and Lily is in braids. Ends up a bunch of kids from his class have it. I still have the creepy crawlies. And I am still grossed out.

The amount of laundry I have done, and will be doing for another week is crazy. Every morning I strip the beds and sanitize all of our linen. Christian's nap mat from school is washed everyday. Bath rugs are washed every day. And I wash all of our clothes that we wear that day immediately. There is NO way I want to go through this EVER again.

Yuck, Tina. Just yuck. So sorry you had to deal with this.

Just awful. I feel so badly for you!

If it makes you feel any better, I once read that lice prefers clean hair to dirty hair - the little bugs like to climb aboard kids with nice, shiny, clean hair.

I hope you never have to deal with it again!

Sorry. And sorry about all the laundry! At least it wasn't...bedbugs. They are my greatest fear especially with all my traveling.

When I went through my school training to be a fake-nurse in the health room I was surprised when they told us kids are no longer told to miss school because of lice. At least you can still send 'em back on Monday!

Ew, Ewww, Triple Ewwwww. SO sorry you're having to deal with this. It was my worst nightmare as a classroom teacher and as a mom. You deserve a spa day for this (along with a very nice bottle of wine!)

hee hee, all part of life at school I'm afraid , it's little heads together over the Lego blocks and dolls houses. I'm always shocked at which parents just don't make an effort to control them and keep re-infesting all the other kids.
Hang in there
